Concordia - the story behind the name

For healthcare providers, Concordia provides a uniquely integrated one stop shop electronic health record, patient care and business management solution.  For patients, Concordia provides the ability to share information across the continuum of care and for patients to take part in their own care planning and delivery.

We wanted a name for our flagship product that would be easy to recall but would also represent the key qualities of our product.  We searched for names that would indicate our visions of seamless interconneted healthcare and "patient self management" and eventually found just what we were looking for.

In a list of lesser Roman deities, we found "Concordia" the goddess of harmony.  Harmony seemed a good way to represent the concept of a seamless and connected healthcare service but did it really say much about patient involvement?

We checked out alternate definitions of "concordia", "concord", and "concordance" and found that concordance can mean "involvement of the patient in decision making to improve treatment". Our decision was made.
